1956 Ducati Meccanica 125cc Gran Sport Marianna

The engine is a single cylinder of 98 cubic centimeters (for the Marianna 100) and 123 (for the Marianna 125).

The Marianna is the first Ducati motorcycle to mount valves with desmodromic distribution . This system gave the Marianna a better reliability than the bikes of that time, as they used rocker arms instead of springs, to recall the valve.

This feature allowed the engine to run at higher revs.
